(1) And (2) The timing and location of Department for Planning and Infrastructure (DPI) marine safety patrols varies depending on availability of resources and anticipated activity on the river. However, it can be said that most patrolling is done when activity is highest (weekends and public holidays). DPI acknowledges that Deep Water Point is a high use area and monitoring of the area is more frequent. Water Police also assist in patrolling. (3) For the period 1 July 2005 - 2 May 2006 - seven infringements were issued in respect of Personal Water Craft. (4) The infringements were: a. Freestyle in prohibited area (3). b. Skiing without observer (2). c. Unregistered vessel (1). d. Failure to wear Personal Flotation Device (1) - (total of 7)
