In relation to the Department of Education’s employment of school psychologists, I ask the Minister:
(a) does the Department of Education have a formula indicating the number of school psychologists that should be allocated to each metropolitan district on the basis of student numbers within that district; and
(i) if yes, what is that formula;
(b) is it accurate to say that there was until recently in place a formula for the allocation of Full Time Equivalent (FTE) school psychologist positions to each metropolitan district on the basis of student numbers whereby there was a notional allocation of one school psychologist for every 2,000 students; and
(c) what is the current ratio of FTEs for school psychologists per student numbers in each education district across Western Australia?

(a) No. The Department has a "safety net" ratio of 1:2000 across all schools.
(a)(i) Not applicable.
(b) There is a notional allocation of a "safety net" one School Psychologist for every 2000 students. This has been in place for over a decade. The actual ratio will be significantly better than this given the additional School Psychologists made available through this Government.
(c) The current year to date ratio of school psychologists to students in each education district is as follows:
Albany
1:1228.90
Bunbury
1:1565.6
Canning
1:1262.2
