Several members
interjected.
Mr Lachlan Hunter: Do you think it is funny?
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt, just wait.
Members, I would like to hear the question before you start interjecting. Start
again, member for Central Wheatbelt.
Mr Lachlan Hunter: Thank you, Mr Speaker.
Does the minister
truly believe that building a racetrack in Perth should take precedence over
ensuring that regional cancer patients receive fair and equitable support?
Point of order
Dr Tony Buti: Standing order 77 clearly states that
questions that ask for an opinion are out of order.

Attorney General. You were asking for an opinion from the minister, which you
cannot ask for under questions, but I will allow the minister to respond if she

Thank you, Speaker;
I will respond. The Premier has been clear about the priorities of our

Several members

The Speaker: Members! Leader of the Opposition and
Treasurer! Carry on, minister.
Ms Meredith Hammat: As I said, the priorities of our
government are clear: jobs, health and housing. The Perth entertainment and
sports precinct is one part of our strategy to diversify the economy and create
jobs. It is part of our strategy to remain the strongest economy in the nation.
In addition to that, because our government can do more than one thing at a
time, we are also making and have made record investments in health—$14.3
billion since 2021. We have increased staffing.
Mr Lachlan Hunter interjected.
The Speaker: Member for Central Wheatbelt!
Ms Meredith Hammat: We have increased staffing by 30%—4,400
more nurses and 1,800 more doctors. We will continue to be really proud of the
record investments we are making in health, as well as the work we are doing in
our core areas of jobs, health and housing.
