(1) The WA Government currently owns or leases 32 childcare centres. Valuation of these is in excess of $36million.
(2) $250 000.
(3) A monitoring visit by the Department for Communities (DfC) found the service to be in breach of Regulation 59: cleanliness, maintenance and repair.
(4) The funding will be used for a range of upgrades including a replacement roof, guttering, down pipes and soak wells; painting; floor coverings; window treatments; heating, ventilation and the staff toilet.
(5) The funding will be available in three instalments:
- $150 000 in 2008/2009
- $50 000 in 2010
- $50 000 in 2011.
(6) The Department for Communities has a capital works allocation for 2008/09 of $150,000, most of which will be used for child care centres. The WA Family Foundation Trust has an allocation of $367,000 for community centre upgrades, which includes child care centres.
