KUNUNURRA CRISIS CENTRE — ASSAULT
INCIDENT
726. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to an incident at Kununurra Crisis Centre when the
former partner of a woman resident entered the building through the roof and
stabbed her five times in front of her children. Will the minister ensure that
immediate funds are provided to Kununurra Crisis Centre so that women and
children seeking refuge at the centre are actually safe?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for the question.
Yes, I was aware of that terrible incident, and the
Department for Child Protection went straight to the refuge and is liaising
with it to make sure that that refuge is indeed safe.
