(1) With regard to the alleged assault on Rottnest Island by Rottnest Island Authority guests on 25 October 2011, can the Minister confirm if the Authority has made any contact with the resident who was assaulted, and
(a) if yes, what support has been offered to the victim by the Rottnest Island Authority; and
(b) if no, Minister instruct the Authority to contact the victim with the view of offering some form of assistance (as the victim was severely bashed), and if no, why not?

(1)(a) The Rottnest Island Authority's (RIA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), after becoming aware of the assault on 26 October 2011, made immediate enquiries about the resident's well being with his employer, and passed on his best wishes and concerns. The RIA CEO was advised that the victim was recovering well from his injuries.
(b) In correspondence dated 13 December 2011, the victim was advised to contact the RIA direct if he would like to submit a claim for compensation. The RIA has not received any correspondence from the victim at this time.
