The Public Transport Authority advises:
(a - c) There is no specific number of incidents that must occur before consideration would be given to installing duress alarms, CCTV cameras or protective cages on buses but there needs to be some realistic level of expected use to warrant their installation. The current level of antisocial behaviour on regional town bus services is very low with most towns recording no incidents for several months. For this reason, duress alarms are not warranted at this time.
(d) All regional town bus service drivers must have access to either a two way radio or mobile phone.
