FORESTCHECK
723. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to Forestcheck, established
in 2002 to monitor biodiversity in jarrah forests.
(1) Is Forestcheck still active?
(2) Does Forestcheck provide annual
progress reports?
(3) Why is it that the latest
Forestcheck report accessible online is the 2014 report?
(4) Will the minister table the
2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Forestcheck reports?
(5) If no to (4), why not?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(5) No.
The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions provides reports
periodically at appropriate times, when full complements of the data are
aggregated and analysed. There are not annual reports for all years. Since
2015, DBCA has published outcomes of Forestcheck through peer-reviewed
scientific journals that are available publicly. There is a 2020 report for the
jarrah south ecosystem and a 2021 report for the jarrah north west ecosystem
fire chronosequence. These are available through the DBCA library. I am happy
to see whether they are available otherwise.
