Hon Matthew Swinbourn replied:I thank the member for some notice of the question. The
following answer has been given to me by the Ministerfor Police.(1) The serious offender enforcement squad manages
offenders subject to a post-sentence supervision order (PSSO) only if they are
a reportable offender with current reporting obligations under theCommunity Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004.
Compliance with PSSO conditions is managed by the Department of Justice.(2) The serious offender enforcement squad manages
all child sex offenders within the metropolitan area with current reporting
obligations under theCommunity Protection
(Offender Reporting) Act 2004.(3) If the alleged offender was a reportable
offender on 19 December 2024, they would be managed by the serious offender enforcement
squad. Pursuant to sections 81 and 82 of theCommunity
Protection (Offender Reporting) Act 2004police are not able to directly
or indirectly reveal any information which may identify a person on the Australian
National Child Offender Register.
