PERTH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL — LEAD
CONTAMINATION
664. Mr D.J. KELLY to the Minister for Water:
I have a supplementary question. If
it is the minister's view that it is not an issue for the Water
Corporation, can she explain the Premier's comments today, and I quote
the Premier —
''My understanding is the
source of the lead has been detected. It relates to the supply of water going
into the hospital, it's not something in the hospital

AnswerView source ↗

I just explained that.
Mr
M. McGowan : So the Premier is wrong?
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : No. Was the Leader of the Opposition listening? He was not.
The Water Corporation provides water
to the QEII site, and then the water is on-supplied by John Holland to Perth
Children's Hospital. There are internal workings where the water is
supplied.
Mr
D.J. Kelly : So the lead's coming from QEII; is that what you're
saying?
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : I did not hear what the Premier said this morning. There is no
issue. The state government has been very clear about this. I stood up and told
the member that it was not a Water Corporation issue. The Premier and the
Treasurer made comments that we are working to resolve it.
Mr
D.J. Kelly : So it's coming from QEII?
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : I have told the member what the Water Corporation has advised
me. The Water Corporation has done the testing. There is no lead in our water
supply system. We supply to the QEII site, and it is then on‑supplied to
Perth Children's Hospital. That, it is believed, is where the issue is.
