MOORA RESIDENTIAL COLLEGE
777. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to comments made yesterday
during debate on motions on notice in the Legislative Council by the
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Regional Development, Hon Darren West,
when he indicated that he did not support the investment in and continuation of
Moora Residential College.
(1) As Minister for Education —
Several members interjected.
The PRESIDENT : Order!
The member on his feet is trying to ask a question. Please let him get the
question out.
Hon MARTIN
ALDRIDGE : I repeat —
(1) As Minister
for Education and Training, does the minister support the investment of $8.7 million
in Moora Residential College and the continuation of this vitally important
regional education service?
(2) If yes, when
will the minister visit Moora to reaffirm her support for the project, and the
future of the college, despite the fact that this support is not forthcoming
from local Labor members of Parliament?

I thank the
member for the question.
(1)–(2) I
cannot make a comment on what the member attributes to the honourable member,
because I would have to read Hansard to be able to do that. I did
welcome the investment at the time, and the department is working well with the
local community to build the facilities at Moora Residential College, and I am
pleased that that work is progressing.
