INSTALLATION — COLLIE
512. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Energy:
I refer to the government's
announcement of a $2.8 billion spend on new battery storage and wind
generation.
(1) How many construction jobs will
be created in the construction of the Collie big battery?

will be for existing Collie residents?
(3) Following the construction of the big battery in
Collie, how many permanent full-time jobs will be generated in managing
it?
(4) Where will those permanent
workers be located?
(5) Given that the majority of rooftop solar
generation and the majority of demand will be in Perth, what level of
energy loss is expected in sending the electricity to Collie and back again to
Perth?

I thank the member for some notice
of the question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister
for Energy.
(1)–(4) The
Collie big battery will be the first of its kind and size for the Collie
region. Job numbers will be determined following the execution of contracts to
deliver on the project.
(5) Marginal loss factors are
determined by the Australian Energy Market Operator.
