Department of the Premier and Cabinet advises:
(a-b) Three artworks purchased from Nomad Two Worlds for $13,000 (excl GST)
and one piece of public art purchased from Monart Design for $116,500 (excl
GST).
The piece of public art purchased from Monart Design is an abstract
impression of a wandoo forest utilising wandoo timber remnants salvaged from
the Perry Lakes Stadium. The wandoo artwork was selected through the
State's Percent for Art Scheme which requires projects above $2 million to set
aside up to 1% of the construction budget for public art. The artist for
wandoo artwork is Monique Tippett of Monart Design, Dwellingup. Ms Tippett
was selected through an invited tender process. The wandoo artwork was funded
out of the Hale House redevelopment project budget. The Member is referred to
Legislative Assembly Question on Notice 7989 which provides greater detail.
(c) Following advice on the acquisition through the Director of the Art
Gallery, the Office of the Premier authorised the purchases.
