Recommendation 3 of the Environmental Protection Authority bulletin of April 2004 titled “Drainage Management, Swan Canning Catchment” states - A study be conducted into the resourcing of drainage across the catchment including the application of a whole of catchment drainage rate. The rate should cover at least stormwater, groundwater and nutrient management including the retrofitting of existing drains and operation of new drains. (1) Which agency will have the lead role in the development of this study? (2) Has this study been commissioned; and, if so - (a) who has been commissioned to undertake the report; (b) when is it due to report; (c) what public consultation will occur; (d) what will be the cost of undertaking this report; and (e) will the report be tabled in Parliament? I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for the Environment has provided the following response - (1)-(2) No decisions have been made regarding this matter. However, cabinet is considering a decision regarding drainage governance reform. Following cabinet’s consideration of this submission, the responsible minister will be able to provide further information to the questions raised by the honourable member.
(2) Has this study been commissioned; and, if so - (a) who has been commissioned to undertake the report; (b) when is it due to report; (c) what public consultation will occur; (d) what will be the cost of undertaking this report; and (e) will the report be tabled in Parliament?
