Mr Roger Cook replied:I will commit to reassuring
Western Australians that they can have confidence in their healthcare system. I
will commit to holding the Leader of the Opposition to account when he puts the
fear of God into Western Australians simply for accessing health care. The
Leader of the Opposition should hold his head in shame today. He has told
Western Australians that they should be scared to go to that hospital.Mr Basil Zempilasinterjected. The Speaker:Leader of the Opposition.Mr Roger Cook:This
man is a risk to patients. He is a risk to patients' lives. We heard his
message today. We saw the inflatable flailing of the arms, tube man—Mr Basil Zempilasinterjected. The Speaker:Leader of the Opposition.Mr Roger Cook:He was flailing around this morning,
saying, "Don't go to hospital."Mr Basil Zempilasinterjected. The Speaker:Leader of the Opposition, you are going
to limit the chances of supplementary questions for your side if you continue
carrying on the way you are carrying on.Mr Roger Cook:He said, "Don't go to hospital."
He is scaring Western Australians because he sees a small gap of a political
opportunity here. A short moment ago the shadow Treasurer was referencing 2016.
I remember 2016 as 2015–16 was the only year on record in the last two
decades that the number of doctors and nurses employed by our healthcare system
actually went backwards. The only time we have seen our health system actually
contract was under a Liberal–National government. We have a $3.2 billion
capital investment program to ensure we continue to expand our health system.
We have provided more funding than ever before. Mr Speaker, do you know why
that is? It is because we have a WA Labor government.
