WATER CORPORATION — HOWARD AND MARILYN KING — ASBESTOS-CONTAMINATED HOME
I refer to the asbestos-contaminated home supplied by the Water Corporation for its employee, Mr Howard King, and his wife, Marilyn, at Millstream in the Pilbara. (1) Is the minister aware that Mr and Mrs King are living in the open while they wait for their home and possessions to be professionally decontaminated of asbestos? (2) What steps is the minister taking to speed up the process by which the report on this contamination is undertaken and to ensure that its recommendations are acted upon? (3) Why are Mr and Mrs King being treated in such slow and discourteous manner by the minister’s agency? Hon HELEN MORTON

It is provided by Government Regional Officers’ Housing. Mr and Mrs King have been living in the Water Corporation’s short-stay quarters at Millstream during this period. This information has been provided to Mr King via his representative, the union. (3) The Water Corporation has done everything possible to assist Mr and Mrs King in this situation and has advised them that the property is suitable for reoccupation.
