POLICE — CANNABIS
— AUTOPSIES
1094. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I
thank the minister for his response to my question on notice of 8 August 2023
on road fatalities involving cannabis , which
attracted some interest from our friends in the media, and note the 27 cases in
2021 and the 29 cases in 2022.
(1) How many of
those cases involved cannabis alone and how many involved cannabis in
conjunction with other drugs and/or alcohol?
(2) In search of a complete picture, how many of the
remaining cases that did not involve cannabis—94 in 2021 and 95
in 2022—had traces of other drugs and/or alcohol, and which substances
were identified in what quantities in those cases?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The honourable member has been cheeky a couple of
times today. He asked for a lot of information in that question!
The following information has been
provided to me by the Acting Minister for Police.
The Western Australia Police Force
advise that it is not possible to provide an answer within the required time
frame. As this question requires significant extraction to be undertaken that
will remove staff from operational priorities, it is requested that the
honourable member place the question on notice.
