I refer
to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services report Behaviour
Management Practices at Banksia Hill Detention Centre tabled 17 July 2017, and ask: (a) how many inmates experience weight loss within the first three months of their detention; (b) if weight loss is not assessed, given that inmates are still physically and mentally developing, why is this not a priority of the Department of Corrective Services; and (c) given that many inmates state that they feel hungry, given that this may lead to irritability and behavioural concerns, why does the Department restrict diet and access to food?
