I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) The
Department of Education is undertaking this review. It is part of the
department's regular policy review and approval process.
(2) The
following groups have been consulted during the review, some on more than one
occasion. The principal groups and representatives consulted were: Western
Australian Primary Principals Association, Western Australian Secondary School
Executives Association, Western Australian District High School Administrators
Association, Western Australian Education Support Principals and Administrators
Association, and the Independent Public Schools Principals Advisory Group. The
union consulted was the State School Teachers' Union of Western
Australia. Internal Department of Education groups consulted were: the
Aboriginal Education office, the Office of Early Childhood Development and
Learning, labour relations, standards and integrity, regional executive
directors, school psychology services, child protection teams, complex behaviour
and mental health teams, and principals of schools with special educational
needs.
(3) The policy
review process has been completed. The draft policy is now subject to the
Department of Education's policy approval procedures, with a view to
implementation from the beginning of 2016.
