AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The scheme operated from 6 December 2010 to 31 December 2013.
(2) A total of 24 202 applications were made.
(3) The total payout was $4 140 035.
(4) A Seniors
Card public awareness campaign commenced on 14 July 2012 and included press and
radio advertisements aimed at ensuring that all Western Australian seniors were
taking advantage of all the benefits they are entitled to under the WA Seniors
Card scheme. The WA Seniors Card website and the Volunteer Speakers program,
coordinated by the Department of Local Government and Communities, were the
main means of promoting the scheme. Claim forms were available at all Australia
Post outlets. In January 2011, letters were sent to parliamentarians, local
government authorities and various seniors' centres. Advertisements
were also placed in community newspapers, Have
A Go News and The Senior newspaper.
(5) The scheme has been modified to provide a greater focus
on personal safety.
