I refer to the Minister's media release from 16 November 2025 entitled, "Fast track for housing around train station precincts", and I note the accompanying article in The West Australian that day stated that the State Government believes the sites could accommodate 35,000 new homes, and I also note that the Water Corporation page for "Strategic Water Infrastructure Program" (https://www.watercorporation.com.au/outages-and-works/ongoing-works/strategic-water-infrastructure-program) lists several of the stations contained in the Minister's release, and also nominates a figure for "approx homes delivered", and I ask: (a) how many homes will be delivered by the Redcliffe Station Precinct, noting that the Water Corporation page nominates 2,500 and an "estimated start date" of 2028-29; and (b) how many homes will be delivered by the Morley station precinct, noting that the Water Corporation page nominates 2,000 and an "estimated start date" of 2029-2030?

The dwelling numbers referred to are estimates of how many homes could be built and will be dependent on final built form outcomes. Providing this type of estimate is standard practice in strategic planning to understand the future capacity of different areas. Another example of this is demonstrated in the Perth and Peel @3.5 million land use planning and infrastructure frameworks which were initiated under the former Liberal–National Government.  The State Government does not directly build most private housing.
Housing delivery depends on a range of factors, including local planning frameworks being kept up to date by local government. Low density controls in local planning schemes continue to dominate many well-located areas of Perth.
This is why the Cook Government has acted decisively to assume planning responsibility for station precincts, ensuring these strategically important areas can meet their full potential.
(a)               The Redcliffe Station Precinct is estimated to have potential capacity for up to 3,000 dwellings.
(b)              The Morley Station Precinct is estimated to have potential capacity for up to 4,300 dwellings.
