SYNERGY — DIRECT DEBIT PAYMENTS
545. Mr R.S. LOVE to the Premier:
(1) Is the
Premier aware of yet another failure of his government to be able to
effectively give money away?
(2) Between 29
May and 10 July 2024, Synergy experienced an issue with the direct debit payment
of customers' Synergy bills, resulting in customers being hit with a double
charge at the end of this month. Will the Premier inquire from the Minister for
Energy how many direct debit customers have been affected by this error, which
has apparently also affected their allocation for the electricity credit?

(1)–(2) I thank the member for the question. Obviously, I was
not aware of that detail. I apologise that the Minister for Energy is
still unwell and is unable to be here to answer the Leader of the Opposition's
questions directly. I will certainly inquire into it and make sure we
understand what has happened in this case.
