SEWERAGE — CITY OF
GOSNELLS
1202. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the minister representing the
Minister for Water:
I refer to an article in the Gosnells
Examiner titled ''Residents demand action on sewerage'' dated
13 August and the statement —
''A major component of the proposed
works is a wastewater crossing under Albany Highway and the Armadale train line

''Costing more than $2
million, this part of the project will be funded and built by Water Corporation
as part of its growth program and will align with the city's development.''
(1) Can the
minister confirm that the Water Corporation will be undertaking this component
of the project; and, if yes, when are the works expected to commence?
(2) If yes —
(a) can the
minister confirm that the total cost of this part of the project is $2 million;
and, if not, what is the total expected cost; and
(b) how many
properties will be connected to infill sewerage as a result of these proposed
works, and how many will remain not connected?

I thank the member for the
question. The following information has been provided by the Minister for
Water.
(1) The state
government through the Water Corporation will fund the major infrastructure
component and it will be scheduled to suit the timing of the City of Gosnells
and/or the proponents of the development within the South Kenwick structure
plan area.
(2) (a) At this
stage of planning, $2 million is the estimated cost of this component of the
project.
(b) The funded
major infrastructure component is an enabler for the proponents of development
in the South Kenwick structure plan area to construct and connect reticulated
sewer services. There may not be any properties connected directly to this
major infrastructure.
