I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) Initial
planning commenced in March 2013. Distribution of survey instruments commenced
in January 2014.
(2) It is intended that the gathering of survey data will
conclude in October 2014.
(3) The objectives of the survey are to help identify —
(a) the key consumer issues of
concern to Aboriginal consumers in Western Australia;
(b) the level
of awareness of Aboriginal consumers of relevant consumer agencies operating in
Western Australia; and
(c) the
preferred methodologies for communicating consumer awareness information to
Aboriginal consumers in Western Australia.
The survey is intended to build on the findings of a similar
survey conducted by the department in 2006–07.
(4) No
external consultants or contractors are being used. The survey is being
conducted by the Consumer Protection Division's Indigenous community
education officer.
