MEMBER FOR BALLAJURA - DRIVER’S LICENCE SUSPENSION
I refer the Premier to the car accident involving the former Minister for Disability Services, the member for Ballajura, on 21 April 2006, at which time the minister was driving without a valid licence. Was the former minister responsible for the accident; and, if so - (a) has he been charged over the accident; and (b) will the government be pursuing him for cost recovery of the damages; and, if not, why not? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for providing some notice of the question. The former Minister for Disability Services has been asked to provide details of the accident for insurance purposes as part of the normal processes in these situations. That information has not yet been received. The Department of the Premier and Cabinet has advised that the former minister has not been charged in relation to the accident.
