Mr. Kelly questions the Acting Minister for Water regarding accusations that the department is acting like 'ecological vandals' and reneging on a water release deal for farmers related to the North Dandalup Dam. The Acting Minister defers the question to the actual Minister for Water and offers a response out of session.

DEPARTMENT OF WATER — NORTH DANDALUP DAM
499. Mr D.J. KELLY to the Acting Minister for Water:
I have a supplementary question. Is
the minister saying the member for Murray–Wellington —
Point of Order
Mrs M.H. ROBERTS : I understand
that the minister sought your guidance as to whether the question to the acting
minister was in order. We were waiting for your ruling on that before
contemplating whether there be a supplementary question.
The SPEAKER : I have given the
member a supplementary question, so I do not think my ruling has any relevance
whatsoever.
Questions without Notice Resumed
Mr
D.J. KELLY : I simply ask then: does the minister agree with the member for
Murray–Wellington that the department is acting like ecological
vandals; and, further, does the minister agree with the member for Murray–Wellington
that the government has reneged on a deal to release that water to the farmers
as they need?

The level of response that the
member would want out of this question is something that I would prefer the
actual Minister for Water to respond to.
Mr
D.J. Kelly interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Bassendean!
Mr
D.T. REDMAN : I am happy to make available to the member a response on
notice. I am happy to give it to the member. I am happy to provide the
information to the member, but out of session. It will not be in a response in
this place now.
