I refer to question on notice No. 3038, asked on 5 May 2015 in the Legislative Council by Hon Robin Chapple to the Minister for Mental Health representing the Minister for Environment regarding radioactive waste holdings across Western Australia, and ask: (a) will the Minister provide an inventory of radioactive waste holdings across Western Australia; (b) if no to (a), why not; (c) if yes to (a), is this a publicly available document; (d) have any deficiencies been identified with existing radioactive waste stores; (e) if yes to (c), what is being done to redress these deficiencies; and (f) if no to (d), why not?

(a) No.
(b) Apart from the waste disposed of at the Mount Walton East Intractable Waste Disposal Facility (IWDF), no other radioactive storage site is legally classified as a waste store. The inventory of radioactive waste permanently disposed of at the IWDF site can be obtained from the Department of Finance who own and operate the facility.
(c) Not applicable.
(d) This question should be referred to the Minister for Finance.
(e-f) Not applicable.
