(2) If no to (1), how would the Minister define cultural heritage?
(3) If yes to (1) —
(a) can the Minister explain why the Office of State Heritage which has been created under his leadership is so named given that it has no responsibility over Natural or Aboriginal heritage; and
(b) does the Minister support the naming of this Office when in fact it does not have responsibility for two of three definitions of cultural heritage as supported by the Minister?

(3) (a) The State Heritage Office is a unit of the State public service that supports the Heritage Council in carrying out its functions. The Office effectively carries out the day-to-day functions of the Heritage Council, including the maintenance of the State Register of heritage places, conducting heritage assessments, rendering statutory advice on development proposals for State Registered places, providing technical and financial assistance to owners, and supporting State agencies and local governments in cultural heritage matters within the scope of the
Heritage of Western Australia Act 1990
.
Aboriginal heritage and natural heritage are covered by other legislation and are the responsibility of relevant State agencies and Ministers.
