HEMP
— VINEYARD COVER CROP
1296. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the Minister for Agriculture and
Food:
I refer the minister to recently
published and very exciting research from New Zealand suggesting that hemp is
an ideal cover crop, or intercrop, for use in vineyards.
(1) Have any WA vineyards applied
to grow hemp alongside their vines to date?
(2) Were they to
do so, what additional regulatory and/or legislative hurdles, if any, might
they encounter when selling their wines for general consumption?
