SCHOOLS — SPEED ZONE SIGNS
210. Hon KEN TRAVERS to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
(1) What is the cost of installing a set of standard 40-kilometre-an-hour
road signs in a school zone?
(2) What is the cost of installing a set of electronic
flashing speed zone signs in a school zone?
(3) What happens to the standard school road signs when they
are replaced with the electronic signs?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) Approximately $1 000 per road, which usually consists of
four signs—that is, $250 per sign.
(2) Approximately $38 000 per road, which usually consists of
four signs—that is, $9 500 per sign.
(3) Standard
school zone signs are removed and, if they are in good condition, they are
stored for re-use.
