CEMETERIES ACT —
REVIEW
1115. Hon Dr BRIAN WALKER to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Local Government:
I refer the minister to the review
of the Cemeteries Act that was begun under his predecessor.
(1) Has the
initial public consultation phase of the review been completed; and, if so, on
what date; and, if not, when is it anticipated to be completed?
(2) Has a public discussion paper
been issued; and, if yes, on what date; and, if no, when it is anticipated?
(3) What future opportunities for
public input are envisaged as the review proceeds?
(4) Approximately when does the
department anticipate the review concluding?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) A draft discussion paper for the review of the
Cemeteries Act 1986 and the Cremation Act 1929 administered by the
Minister for Health is in the process of being finalised for release. A public
consultation period will follow the release of the discussion paper. The
feedback provided through this consultation will then be considered by
government.
