PUBLIC HOUSING — AIR CONDITIONING
1477. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
As we approach the summer months,
and with climatologists declaring the arrival of El Nino bringing hotter than usual conditions, will the minister conduct a review
of the public housing climate control policy that does not provide for
air conditioning in public housing?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The state government provides cooling in homes
through cost-effective means for tenants, including ceiling fans, higher
ceilings, roof and wall insulation and appropriate design relevant to the
environment and locality as outlined in the current climate control policy.
