EMERGENCY SERVICES —
AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATORS
1016. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I wanted to ask a question to the
Minister for Environment, but we were advised almost an hour after the deadline today that he was unavailable to answer
questions, which was most unhelpful. The internet must be down in Canberra.
I refer to Legislative Council question
without notice 631 in relation to automatic vehicle locators—AVLs.
(1) Have all AVL units been upgraded
to 4G by 31 August 2024?
(2) If no to (1), how many AVL units
remain outstanding?
(3) If no to (1), what is the
revised date for the replacement of the 3G hardware?
(4) If no to (1), what has been the
cause of delays to the replacement program?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(4) There
have been 1 122 AVL units replaced and four remain outstanding. The replacement
program will be completed before the shutdown of the 3G network on 28 October
2024.
