CORRUPTION AND CRIME COMMISSION OFFICERS —
MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS
1014. Hon SUE ELLERY to the
Attorney General:
I refer to the serious misconduct
allegations against Corruption and Crime Commission officers and the Attorney General's
statement on ABC radio on Monday that he was ''a bit fuzzy on the
figures''.
(1) Can the
Attorney General confirm that last Monday he was unaware of the number of CCC
officers implicated in the misconduct allegations?
(2) Can the
Attorney General confirm that last Monday he was unaware of the nature of the
allegations against CCC officers?
(3) Since
Monday, has the Attorney General requested any additional information on these
misconduct allegations; and, if not, why not?
(4) If the
Attorney General has received additional information, can he inform the house how
many CCC officers specifically —
(a) are under investigation;
(b) have been suspended; and
(c) have had
their positions terminated?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) I can confirm that I received
a confidential verbal briefing from the Corruption and Crime Commission
Commissioner regarding this matter on Monday morning. My comments to media on
the occasions that I was asked about the CCC that day were based on the
knowledge that I possessed at the time of their inquiries and my recollections
of my conversation with the commissioner, but of a general nature given that
the matters, the subject of allegations, were still under investigation.
(3) No.
(4) I have no definitive information as to
the total number of officers who have been or are currently under investigation
in respect of these allegations, or their past or current status, beyond that
in the CCC media release of 10 December.
