I refer to mobile phone usage while driving, and ask: (a) For each of the years 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 how many infringement notices have been issued for using a mobile phone while driving; and (b) For each of the years listed (a) how many people have received more than one infringement notice for using a mobile phone while driving?

(a) For 2014 to 2018 please refer to Question on Notice 5233; for 2019, 11 848.
(b) For 2014 to 2018 please refer to Question on Notice 5233; for 2019, 162.

Statistics are provisional and subject to revision.
Statistics are a count of unique people and infringement notices issued for ‘Mobile Phone Offences’ under the Road Traffic Code 2000, section 265, where the incident occurred up to 31 December 2019 (inclusive).
Statistics for (b) are calculated based on an individual receiving more than one infringement notice for using a mobile phone while driving within each individual year.
Statistics are based on the most up-to-date information captured in the Image and Infringement Processing System (IIPS).
Statistics exclude infringements that have been withdrawn or cancelled.
