I refer to the transition in government schools of year 7
students moving from primary school to secondary school settings.
(1) How many
students will this involve in 2015?
(2) What is
the projected cost of this initiative?
(3) Can the
additional costs be met within the Department of Education's existing
budget or will the minister be seeking yet another Treasury appropriation; and,
if so, how much?

(1) The
projected number is 18 355 public school students. Actual enrolments will not
be confirmed until the February 2015 census.
(2)–(3)
The government has provided $229.6 million for infrastructure, $22.4 million
for the Switch program and $6.1 million for the year 7 implementation team.
Other school resourcing changes are being considered in the context of the
student-centred funding model to be introduced in 2015.
