638. Mr B.S. WYATT to the Premier:
I refer to today's The Australian Financial Review .
(1) Is the
government considering allowing Fortescue Metals Group to delay the payment of
royalties due to the people of Western Australia.
(2) If so, on
what basis is this being considered?
(3) How much
is any proposed concession worth?

(1)–(3)
I am not going to answer questions relating to the financial circumstances of a
publicly listed company.
Mr B.S. Wyatt : No, but are you —
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I am not going to
answer the question.
Mr B.S. Wyatt : It's
the financial circumstances of the people of Western Australia that I am more
interested in.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
am not going to. If there is to be any comment about the financial position of
Fortescue Metals Group, it needs to come from it.
