POLICE — SOUTH WEST REGION
713. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the Attorney General
representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to the article ''Country
cops nabbed for the city'' in the South
Western Times on 28 July 2016.
(1) Of the 200
officers temporarily reassigned to the metropolitan area, how many are from
regional Western Australia and from which regions?
(2) Can the
minister provide a timeframe for the delivery of the extra 38 officers for the
south west region?
(3) Are the 10 positions referred to
by a WA Police spokesperson in the article frontline officers?
(4) Are these positions being
advertised internally or are they new recruitments?
(5) Can the minister provide a time
frame for these 10 positions?

AnswerView source ↗

On behalf of the Minister for
Police, I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) No officers have been reassigned
from regional WA to the metropolitan regions.
(2) It is expected all of the
additional positions will be created by March 2017.
(3) Yes.
(4) The positions are currently
being advertised internally.
(5) The selection
process can take several weeks with time required for officers to make the
necessary arrangements to move themselves and their families from their current
locations.
