DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH — AUDITOR GENERAL'S REPORT
34. Mr R.H. COOK to the Minister for
Health:
I have a supplementary question. It is in fact the controls that we are
talking about here. Rather than the minister simply trying to blame the workers
for his failures, when will the minister actually take responsibility for what
goes on in his department?

AnswerView source ↗

That is like asking me to take responsibility for someone who works for
me who commits a criminal act. I do not have control of people who break the
law or break the requirements of the Department of Health. Nobody can do that.
What I do take responsibility for is the management of the system.
Ms J.M. Freeman interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Mirrabooka, I call you to order for the first time.
Dr K.D. HAMES : I do take responsibility. I explained that
in detail prior to the break.
