SECTION 50(D) STAFF POSITIONS
1227. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to the minister's response to question on
notice 1668 relating to section 50(d) staff positions.
(1) How many of the vacant section 50(d) positions are
currently advertised?
(2) For any positions that are not currently advertised —
(a) what is the reason for each
position remaining vacant; and
(b) for how long has each position
been vacant?

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) Of the 20
vacant section 50(d) positions, seven are currently filled through a
combination of temporary and permanent appointments, seven have been or are
currently in the process of being advertised, one position is pending an appointment,
one is temporarily funding a supernumerary position, two positions are located
in remote Aboriginal communities and the department is attempting to fill these
from within the local community, and two positions are vacant in Armadale.
(2) Two positions
are located in the remote Aboriginal communities of Warakurna and Blackstone
and the department is attempting to fill these positions from within the local
community. Two positions in Armadale are vacant and currently being utilised to
assist with the operational requirements of the district. These are
long-standing vacancies.
