The Western Australian Police Force advised the following:
(a) Geraldton Police were advised of an incident at Greenough Regional Prison (GRP) at 4:22pm on Tuesday 24 July 2018 as a “fire in one of the cells” and that “DFES will update on arrival”.
At 4:41pm, Geraldton Police were advised of a riot situation at GRP and were requested to attend. An initial Incident Management Team (IMT) was established at the Geraldton Police Complex at this time.
At 4:45pm, Commander of Regional Western Australia was advised of the situation and immediately began arranging deployment of WA Police Force resources. Those resources travelling by road did so under priority driving conditions.
Local police resources were at the scene from 4:47pm. Perth based police resources began arriving in Geraldton from 9:15pm.
