WILLIAM STREET STATION
I refer the long-suffering parliamentary secretary to the problem of overcrowding on platforms at the William Street train station at afternoon peak times. (1) What is the approximate platform area available for passenger crowds seeking to board trains at the new William Street station, compared with the platform area previously available at Perth station for Joondalup-bound passengers? (2) How many weekday boardings are expected on the new Mandurah line when it is operational? (3) Now that the government has recognised that overcrowding on the Joondalup line is a problem manifesting itself at William Street, among other places, how will it manage the concurrent extra patronage on the William Street platforms once the Mandurah line is open? Hon ADELE FARINA

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. I am advised that an answer is on its way. If it arrives before the end of question time, I will be happy to provide it. Hon Simon O’Brien : It is still being concocted somewhere, is it? Good luck! It is on a slow train somewhere, is it? I hope it is not in Mandurah; it will not be here until Christmas! [See page 7210.]
