Given that 25 November 2010 sees the launch of the Male Parliamentarians for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development, and in relation to the Western Australia Strategic Plan for Family and Domestic Violence 2009−2013, I ask:
(a) what funding is allocated to the Western Australian Plan;
(b) as males are over-represented in the perpetration of violence against women but under-represented in prevention strategies, what funding and for what projects is allocated towards preventing male violence against women in Western Australia; and
(c) what funding from Royalties for the Regions has been allocated to Violence Against Women programmes?

(a) A wide range of initiatives are funded in Western Australiato address family and domestic violence.  The annual Action Plan 2009-10 details a number of key actions, all of which have been, or are being, completed within existing budget allocations.
(b) The Department for Child Protection operates a 24 hour Men's Domestic Violence Helpline which provides crisis intervention, counselling, advocacy, referral and practical support for perpetrators of family and domestic violence. The annual budget for this Helpline is $342,909.
The Safe at Home and Domestic Violence Outreach Program is funded through the joint Commonwealth/State National Affordable Housing Agreement. A component of this program is a state-wide response to perpetrators of violence, which is delivered via Communicare. Communicare's Breathing Space offers crisis counselling and support to perpetrators of domestic violence to address their behaviour. Breathing Space is also funded to provide a three month residential service for men who use violence in their family relationships. The service receives total funding of approximately $819,000 per annum.
Perpetrator programs are also funded by the Department of Corrective Services.
(c) This question should be referred to the Minister for Regional Development
