SHIRE OF WYNDHAM–EAST KIMBERLEY
1197. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Shire of Wyndham–East
Kimberley and the safety concerns raised regarding Ivanhoe Crossing.
(1) Did Main
Roads investigate and report on Ivanhoe Crossing with a list of works that
needed to be completed before it was opened to the public?
(2) Did the
department liaise with the Shire of Wyndham–East Kimberley in respect
of Ivanhoe Crossing before it was opened in 2015?
(3) Did the Shire
of Wyndham–East Kimberley request any assistance from the department in
respect of Ivanhoe Crossing?
(4) If yes to (3) —
(a) what assistance was required; and
(b) what advice was given to the
shire?

(3) Yes.
(4) (a) The Shire
of Wyndham–East Kimberley requested Main Roads attend a public meeting
held in June 2016 regarding Ivanhoe Crossing. The Shire of Wyndham–East
Kimberley has recently requested speed zoning advice and information on depth
markers on Ivanhoe Crossing.
(b) Main Roads
attended the meeting and provided some general information on questions from
the public. Main Roads has provided some preliminary advice to the Shire of
Wyndham–East Kimberley on speed zoning requirements.
