SOCIAL
HOUSING — NORTH BEACH SITE
272. Hon STEVE MARTIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
I refer to today's
media release, titled ''Demolition makes way for prime North Beach site
revitalisation''.
(1) Has any part
of the project site previously been sold and then repurchased by the state
government?
(2) If yes to
(1), what part of the site was sold and for how much was it —
(a) sold; and
(b) repurchased?

I
thank the member for some notice of this question. The following answer has
been provided by the Minister for Housing.
(1)–(2) Four
properties were sold prior to 1998, including three under the former Court
government. The previous Liberal–National government was unable to
secure the purchase of the final two properties to enable redevelopment during its term. The state
government has successfully secured the final two privately owned properties and has managed the relocation of the remaining social housing
tenants at the site, enabling the way for redevelopment. I seek leave to
incorporate the following information into Hansard .
