FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT LINK — NRW
HOLDINGS
56. Ms R. SAFFIOTI to the Minister for
Transport:
I have a supplementary question. How
many people in the minister's department and office were aware of the
announcement before it was made, and has the minister launched a specific
inquiry or investigation into this particular matter?

AnswerView source ↗

There was nobody in my office who
was aware of it, as far as I know—nobody in my office at all. I cannot
give the specifics of how many people within the department were aware of the
circumstances regarding the contract; I am not sure. I have had no queries from
the Australian stock exchange. If the Australian stock exchange has concerns, I
am more than willing to take them on, but until that matter comes to me in that
way, I do not know how. There are many ways and many reasons people invest and
markets move. For me to speculate that it was something to do with my office
and go off on a witch-hunt is silly. If the member has some specific
information relative to this issue, I am more than willing to receive it and
have it investigated.
