SHORT-TERM RENTAL ACCOMMODATION INCENTIVE SCHEME
839. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the Minister for Commerce:
I refer to the short-term rental
accommodation scheme and the vacant property rental incentive scheme.
(1) How many people have taken up the STRA incentive
scheme and what are the total funds paid out to date?
(2) What percentage of STRA in WA
does (1) represent?
(3) How many properties have signed
up to the STRA register to date?
(4) How many
people have taken up the vacant property rental incentive scheme and what is
the total funds paid out to date?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The Cook
government's short-term rental accommodation incentive scheme has so
far delivered an additional 276 properties to the long-term rental market, and
$1 104 000 has been paid as grants to date.
(2) The exact
number of STRA properties is not known. Honourable member, one of the reasons
for the introduction of the register is that there is no one single source of
truth. The new register will, for the first time, provide a comprehensive
picture of the STRA sector in Western Australia.
(3) There were 1 201.
(4) The Cook
government's vacant property rental incentive scheme has so far
delivered an additional 36 properties to the long-term rental market, and $180 000
has been paid as grants to date.
