(1) Is it the minister’s view that although most primary teachers have an excellent understanding of how students learn, they do not as a general rule have a good content knowledge of science, technology or mathematics? (2) Does the minister accept that primary teachers require specialist professional development to enable them to become confident teachers of maths and science? (3) If yes to (2), what professional development in the teaching of maths and science is planned for primary teachers? (3) Mathematics - Getting it Right Literacy and Numeracy Strategy; First Steps in Mathematics; and K-7 Numeracy Net Science - Schools On-line Curriculum Content initiative - science focus (4) As for (3), which applies across the State.
