I thank the Treasurer for the State’s log of claims; I will deal with them later. The Treasurer said in his answer that he has difficulty precisely understanding the problems in Port Hedland. (1) Will the Treasurer answer the question I asked him about seven minutes ago? (2) In an attempt to understand the problems, will the Treasurer visit Port Hedland and meet the people there? The SPEAKER: The first question is supplementary. Mr E.S. RIPPER

(1) I have answered the question: I have full confidence in the way that the Minister for Local Government and Regional Development is performing his role. I know he is a very vigorous advocate for the needs of that community. I also know that in response to my invitation, the Pilbara Regional Council has presented a submission to the Government outlining its view of how the area has been disadvantaged as a result of state government agreement Acts. In accordance with the commitment I gave, Treasury is examining that submission from the Pilbara councils. The concern that Pilbara councils have been financially disadvantaged are being examined. When I have that advice from Treasury, I will respond to the Pilbara councils. Point of Order Mr M.J. BIRNEY: I believe that calling a member of another place “aggravating” would breach standing orders. Several members interjected. The SPEAKER: Order! I understand the point of order. In this case, I do not think there was an abuse.
