Western Power:
Western Power (WP) policy is required to pay compensation when it has acted negligently.
On occasion, WP provides ex gratia payments on a commercial-in-confidence basis. This includes circumstances where Western Power has received compensation claims, however the question of negligence is not unequivocal and the amount involved and other relevant factors dictate the settlement of the matter.
Given the confidential nature of the settlements it is not appropriate to provide details of ex gratia payments.
Synergy:
Synergy is operating in a commercial market and such information is considered commercially sensitive.
Verve Energy:
Verve Energy made two payments during 2006:
(1)
(a) Richard Corbett, Senior Technical Officer, in August.
(b) $3,560
(c) Special allowance for additional overtime required to be worked on the K5 outage over a period of four weeks at Kwinana Power Station.
(d) The General Manager Production recommended this additional payment. The CEO approved the recommendation.

(a) Richard Skead, Corporate Project Co-ordinator, in September.
(b) $38,875.
(c) Settlement sum on termination of employment.
(d) The General Counsel and the General Manager Human Resources negotiated and recommended this settlement. The CEO approved the recommendation.
